Get Pole Position With Macrae & Dick

Macrae & Dick Ford has teamed up with motorsnorth to offer readers a slice of racing action - in true VIP style.

Scotland's oldest motor group, established in 1878, is offering you the chance to win two all-expenses paid tickets to one of the top racing events of the year - the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill in August. Not only will the lucky winner get to glimpse what it's like to be a top racing star of the likes of Lewis Hamilton but they;ll also get their accommodation and travel expenses covered too.

They'll be able to watch all the action as it happens as some of the UK's top racing drivers go bumper to bumper, over 24 laps, in a bid to be first past the chequered flag. Among them on the circuit over that weekend will be local racing driver, Dave Newsham, of Inverness who will be taking part in the thrilling rounds for the Legends championship challenge and hoping this will be his year to take the podium at Knockhill.

At the wheel of his specialised Legends race vehicle he's hoping these unique cars will give him the edge over his competitors.

Race fans throughout the north can get in on the action too when they visit the Macrae & Dick dealership in Harbour Road, Inverness. Dave will be showing off his Legends racing car at the dealership between May 9 and 15. The American design is powered by a Yamaha 1250cc motorcycle engine and weighs just 500kg giving them a power to weight ratio of a World Rally Car. It takes just four seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.

Dave has had his sights firmly set on making it to pole position in these championships since he was a boy. Following an action-packed few years complete with spells of leading the championship, high-speed crashes and mechanical woes, Dave has now never been in better shape for championship success.

He is comfortably leading the championship after four rounds, taking major wins at Brands Hatch and coming second at Rockingham and is feeling confident about the Scottish leg of the race.

Allan Smith, sales manager at Macrae & Dick Ford said: "As car enthusiasts ourselves, we were delighted to have the opportunity to support Dave and the Legends team during the championship. It's fantastic to be involved with a local driver who is successfully carving a career out for himself on the race track. We wish Dave every success with the championship and look forward to welcoming everyone to the dealership from 9-15 May to see Dave's Legend car first hand and experience our award winning Ford range."
